Wiki - Songbird is a free and open source software audio player and web browser founded by Rob Lord and developed by Pioneers of the Inevitable (with members who previously developed for both Winamp and the Yahoo! Music Engine), with a stated mission "to incubate Songbird, the first Web player, to catalyze and champion a diverse, open Media Web.
So far there's no plug-in for displaying "what are you listening" but if you set your last.fm account into Songbird and then get the xtra script for Adium you're done until some plug-in is released.
I was willing to love FLAC but iTunes wouldn't let me, so I moved to Songbird.
Even if it's under development it works pretty good and there's already many great add-ons to try. I hope this great work continue and grow a lot!
